The last few weeks at work have been crazy. Trying to train someone and at the same time deal with the end of the year rush proved to be a bad idea.
Our last dr appointment was awesome. I was told by a friend the dr I was going to see was really nice but I didn’t expect to like her as much as I did. She is by far the most personable dr there. We asked her most of the same questions we asked Dr. M. at the last appointment but she did a better job giving answers in my opinion. She seemed happy to answer them, she offered up extra info, and she asked us questions, it was really nice. Even though the baby was moving around like crazy again she was able to follow her heartbeat for a long time, longer than any of the other drs have, and she seemed genuinely interested in what she was doing.
She did say that since I was probably not a good candidate for an epi she wants us to meet with the anesthesiologist so that in the event a c-section is necessary (she told us her rate is 11% which is awesome for where we live) he will be familiar with my case and films and can give me a spinal block so I can be awake for the whole thing.
I said before I was fine with dr M. delivering her and I wanted to just see 1 dr and would be happy if it was him, but I think I take it back. I’m sure it will be fine either way, but she seemed way more confidant in herself and comfortable with everything so I would really prefer her.
Even though trying to train someone at the end of the year was not such a good idea it did allow me to take the day after xmass off, kind of. I had to work remotely but that is way better than going into the office. Wednesday after work we left for the central coast and had an awesome time. Every time we go up there we remember how much we like it and can't figure out why we don't go more often.
Other than work being crazy last week was pretty dull and New Year’s was just another day but it was followed by a day off from work and those are always good.
Actually being in 2009 does make the babies arrival seem very close and is making me think about all the things I need to get done. Someone asked me last week who our pedi was and I haven’t even started looking. I also need to get to writing the birth plan and filling out the updated dpa/blood card that has been sitting in my room for I don’t know how long.
I’m sure there was more stuff I wanted to include in updates over the last couple of weeks but I can’t think of anything else for now. In addition to not updating the blog I am just getting around to checking my e-mail so I’ll put week 27 & 28 below and I do have a pic for week 26 so I’ll post that next to week 28’s.

By this point in your pregnancy you are feeling your baby move quite a lot. Some of his/her movements could be due to hiccups, while others feel like he/she is participating in an aerobic workout. Many women find these movements very comforting, and these often help strengthen the bonding process between mother and child.
Many women ask questions concerning how often they should feel their baby move. Later in pregnancy you may be asked to calculate your baby’s kick count, but now you just want to make general comparisons. If your baby seems less active than normal, then you would want to discuss this with your healthcare provider.
How big is your baby?
Your baby is now 13 ¾ inches long and weighs 2¼ pounds.
What is happening with your baby?
Around week 11 your baby’s eye lids became fused, but around the 27th to 28th week babies can open and close their eyes. Your baby has also developed a regular wake and sleep cycle.

Hands are active and muscle coordination is such that he can get his thumb into his mouth. Thumb-sucking calms the baby and strengthens his cheek and jaw muscles. Your baby can cry now, too.

Each and every week your uterus continues to grow. The top of your uterus can now be felt significantly above your belly button, about 3 ½ inches or more. Most likely your weight gain is between 17 and 24 pounds.
How big is your baby?
Your baby is about 14 ¼ inches long and weighs in at 2 ½ pounds. This still seems very small, but remember that during the last several weeks of pregnancy your baby will gain a significant amount of weight.
What is happening with your baby?
Your baby’s brain is really beginning to develop into a more complex organ. Up until this point, your baby’s brain has been relatively smooth, but beginning this week his/her brain will develop grooves and indentions along its surface. The amount of brain tissue also begins to increase during the 28th week.
The development of hair also continues. Eyebrows and eyelashes are visible, while the hair on your baby’s head grows even longer. Your baby is also starting to look a little rounder as the fat storage under the skin continues to develop. This is an important part of development that will continue through the remainder of your pregnancy.

He is able to dream when sleeping and his eyelids open and close. His lungs are almost fully developed, so there's a good chance that baby would survive if born prematurely.
