Listen Carefully

She has lots to say. Keelin’s speech is really taking off, although a lot of it is hard to decipher. She is starting to make an effort to say words we ask her to say, and her freak outs are lessening as she is able to tell us what exactly it is she wants/needs.

Some of my favorite words

Special & Little, these are our nick names for her and she is able to say them pretty clearly, but cannot say anything even close to Keelin.

Ready, she asks us this over and over when we are getting ready to go somewhere, she loves to be anywhere but home.

Pampa = grandpa

Hawow = hello (think comedy skit making fun of Barbara Walters)

Love, just cause it’s a good word to know

She has a way of pronouncing hard sounds like K or C, she puts a lot of emphasis on that part of the word and the beginning is often dropped awake is ake, milk is ilk things like that.

Some words that sound exactly the same

Open & apple

Shoes & juice (imagine being thirsty and having your mom tell you you don’t need your shoes because we aren’t going anywhere)

Ice & outside

I especially love how proud of herself she is when she is able to say something, and how happy and excited she is when she knows we understand what she is saying.
