Check-up

Tierney had her first check up last Tuesday. She was up to 8lbs so she has gained about an ounce a day but she was still 20 ¾ inches. Overall she looked good but did not appreciate being messed with and Keelin got very upset that people were making her sister cry.

Keelin is getting back into her old habits of playing with toys, following me around, and watching movies. She will ask to hold her sister several times a day and cannot help but kiss, hug, touch, her when she is awake but no longer freaks out when I take Tierney upstairs to nap.

We have not had any major mishaps since the bead up the nose incident and life with two is not as impossible as I thought it would be. They nap for about 1 ½ at the same time everyday, and I take them upstairs to bed at the same time every night. Keelin does really well playing by herself while I feed Tierney, and Tierney takes 3 1 1/2 to 2 hr naps during the day which gives me lots of time to hang out with Keelin and get things done.

I want to discourage sibling rivalry and competition in all areas except sleep. They should feel free to show me who can fall asleep first and stay asleep the longest. Keelin will fall asleep with Tierney crying, and will sleep though her crying, but still manages to wake up at some random time each time. I realized last night Keelin’s waking is not a problem when she falls right back to sleep, it’s the nights that she is up for 1 or 2 hours that kills me. Tierney wakes several times a night to eat, but like Keelin with she was new only eats for about 10 min and is back to sleep. Tierney makes up for waking several times by sleep in 8 or 8:30 every morning, Keelin still to this day wakes up between 6:40 and 7 which is way too early in my opinion.
