Rooooooaaarrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Grandma bought Keelin and I pre-school projects a couple weeks ago and today I finally got organized enough to do one correctly. Turns out reading all the directions before hand is a must. Today I learned that I need to pick one part of the project that we can cut together and I need to do all the rest of the cutting before hand, we have a short attention span. Also glue sticks are crap, I need to go buy the messy stuff we used in elementary school.

I’ve tried to do "project time" with her a couple of other days but my lack of organization and her unwillingness to focus caused me to give up. I think once we have completed two or three she will get the idea and really enjoy it. She is so independent and wants to do everything herself (except go to sleep) getting her to focus on the next step was a little difficult but I could tell she was proud of what she made when we were all done.

She sat nicely while I did the calendar with her and did not freak out because I did not give her the pen, so that was a nice start. Last night I made a name card for her that came in the box and she seemed to really like talking about and spelling her name. She let me talk to her about the letter “L” and even repeated after me, something I could not get her to do the last time I tried this. She loves cutting but after we glued the face on she was more interested in the glue stick, which she initially thought was chap stick, than cutting; but that’s ok I’m going to pre-cut most of the stuff for awhile to make things move along at a pace she can enjoy. When we were all done and I wanted to write her name on the project she fought me a little but than let me hold her hand while I wrote her name and that was probably more beneficial than just watching me write it. When we were done I heard her say gibberish gibberish “L” “I” Keelin, and I smiled. Its always hard to tell if she is paying attention to me or just humoring me so that I hurry up and finishing “teaching” and she can do what she wants with whatever I am showing her.

Today was a big success and I am so glade my mom knew about this program because I feel so uncreative when it comes to teaching her.

L is for lion

Chicken is just starting to get into crafts at almost 3 and it's so fun. He really likes putting beads onto pipe cleaner! also, playdough is a big hit!

She will do really good she has great hand eye. Just rember when you teach her to write her name use upper and lower case letters. Other wise it will take half of kidnergarten to get her to use both.
