13 Weeks

Baby News

By everyone’s count I am now in the second trimester. Yay for us. Things are pretty uneventful. Symptoms are minimal, not enough to complain about. I’m having way less heartburn this time than I did with Keelin, I think that means this kid is supposed to be bald.

Here’s the latest with getting to a dr. feel free to skip this.

I finally got my insurance card and so I made another appointment with my pcp Tuesday so that I could get a referral to see an ob. I got there peed in a cup, thanked them for their lame congratulation, and told them which ob I wanted to be referred to. Someone at my IPA office told them that while that ob is in my group he will have to refer me somewhere else because I have to deliver at Beverly hospital in Montebello and he is not contracted with them. The nurse handed me an order for blood work and I left the office confused. I decided to call blue cross to find out what the deal was with the hospital. They told me the ob could request special authorization for me to deliver at his hospital, so I figured when I went in for the first visit i'd ask him to do that before he referred me somewhere else and we'd be good to go. I called the dr office Wednesday to find out the status of my referral. The nurse called me back and gave me the info, only the referral was for a dr in Montebello not the dr in West Covina I had requested to see. I called the insurance company because there is no way I am going to drive 20-40 min for dr appointments or while in labor. I told the rep the situation and asked if she could help me find an IPA that was contracted with a hospital in my area. She does not have access to that information (awesome) but said she had never heard of someone having to go to a dr based on what hospital the group worked with. She called the IPA for me and was told that the reason I was referred to the dr in Montebello was because that was the dr my pcp put the referral in for (yay for her), but if there was a different dr in my IPA I wanted to see I could deliver at whatever hospital he was contracted with. I told the insurance rep what dr I wanted to see, she double checked and yup he is in my IPA and I told her what hospital he was contracted with and she double checked and that hospital takes my insurance plan. So I called the pcp office back and told the nurse what the insurance rep had said and who she talked to at my IPA office and now I’m waiting to hear back. If they do not or cannot get me a referral to a dr in Covina/West Covina I am going to have to change IPA’s and that means I wont get a referral till sometime in August. I am beyond sick of this.

Keelin News

Keelin likes to play with my mom’s keys and we like to let her because when she accidently pushes the panic button on her keyless entry it freaks her out and she gets the funniest O.S look on her face and throws the keys down and runs!

She has learned about the darker side of cute shoes. Her jelly’s, the ones she picked out, gave her blisters on both feet and she STILL wanted to ware them. She’d take a few steps than bend in half touching her shoes, whining, trying to figure out what the deal was. And I am sure there is no one else in the world I would put band-aids on while kicking and ranting just so they could wear some silly shoes.

She loves to dip things in sauce, we are working on getting her to eat the item and now just suck the sauce off.

She makes the best stinky face when she doesn’t like what is happening at the moment and the best surprise face when she does.

At her last dr visit we were given an order to have her blood drawn. I have been putting it off hoping Pablo and I could both go but it just hasn’t happened so when I went in to get mine done I did hers too and it was AWFUL! I will never go alone again. They took 4 vials from her, and had to switch arms and people half way though because I was having a hard time holding her still. I will say I think the people at the lab did a better job than the nurse at the dr office because neither of her arms bruised this time and they were really quick about getting the needle in and things started.

I have been asked how many words she says and what they are so I thought I’d make a list and where better to do it than the blog.

  1. Mom
  2. Pa
  3. Da
  4. Flower
  5. Stout (the dog)
