Practice Run

I woke up at 5 to pee and had some spotting, Tierney was moving some so I decided to go back to bed and see if it continued. Around 6:30 Keelin woke u p and after she was back to sleep I came downstairs and had more spotting so I decided to call the nurse line and see what they said. I was hoping I would leave a message and when they called back I could say it stopped and at most they would have me go into the dr toady for an extra appointment. I spoke to a live on-call nurse, no answering service, and she told me to head to labor and delivery, so we did. I checked in and they got me hocked up to the monitors. The nurse told me a few different reasons spotting could happen at this point, the one that seemed to be the most likely fit was my cervix thinning. I am 1 cm and 60% effaced. We were there for about 2 hrs, I had a few contractions and I think the nurse was surprised how relaxed I was about having them, the babies heart rate was normal, and before I left they did an ultrasound and said my fluid levels were good. I really like the 2 nurses we met and the nurses that did the tour seemed really cool so I hope we have a good experience when labor actually does happen. Turns out spotting is ok bleeding is not, I wish the on-call nurse could have told me that but I guess they have to air on the side of caution. The tip was not a total loss though because we finally got to eat a flappy jacks.
